SKM appoints Alan Fotheringham to lead Energy Group
Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) has appointed a new Group Manager, Alan Fotheringham, to lead the company’s Energy business.
Fotheringham has been with SKM for 12 months. He joined from Wood Group Engineering and Production Facilities (Asia Pacific) where he held the position of Principal Strategy, Business and Market Development along with Operations Director for a Joint Venture business to enter the Coal Seam Gas market. Prior to this he fulfilled the role of Managing Director in Australia for Wood Group subsidiary Mustang Engineering.
Fotheringham’s experience is especially relevant as SKM looks to benefit from market opportunities in oil and gas, having embarked upon creating a project and programme management, engineering, design and consultancy services capability in the Energy sector.
“I am pleased to accept the challenge of leading SKM’s Energy business through its next stage of development. From my due diligence I believe it is on the cusp of a transformational change as an integrated service provider to the oil and gas industry.
In my time at SKM I have experienced firsthand the impressive breadth of capability. With the support from the many dedicated industry professionals and the leadership team, I have every confidence in leading the Energy group and delivering on its strategic objectives.”
SKM currently participates in the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors including a highly successful programme management presence in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia Pacific regions.
“Looking to the future we will build on those core skills adding geographic locations and expanding our capacity and capability; particularly in areas such as conventional natural gas and the emerging tight and shale formations,” said Fotheringham.
Fotheringham has 24 years experience in the Energy sector in established oil and gas provinces - the UK North Sea, Middle East, Asia and Australia. In addition to business leadership, he has held Senior Project and Program Management roles on a wide range of projects from concept through commissioning. Clients have included oil and gas outfits such as Shell (UK) Expro, Talisman Energy, Qatar Petroleum, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Conoco Phillips and Shell Brunei.
