As part of the UK’s expansion of renewable generation capacity, Sinclair Knight Merz provided technical consulting services to the developer of a 12000 MW offshore windfarm in relation to the available connection options.
These transmission connections included a comprehensive feasibility appraisal of the technical issues that would be faced by providing a 275kV and 400kV connection.
The services provided by SKM for this project appraisal included:

Power systems studies for generation connection and integration to the transmission systems

Preparation of connection costs for different scenarios

Economic and cost benefit analysis of different connection options, in terms of both operation on the system and also internal windfarm economics
