The Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore have a new state-of-the-art Training Village and Range Complex forming a key training facility within the new Home Team Academy. These facilities form a mock-up mini-city offering full scale replicas of residential apartments, shops, a railway platform and prison cells.
SKM’s Tactical Training Facilities (TTF) Group were engaged by CPG Consultants to carry out the complete (start to finish) Range Services Training Needs Analysis, Design and Construction Project Management for the entire Training Village and Range Complex.
Throughout the project it was critical that SKM’s deign meet the highest international standards of safety, with layout and design aimed at minimising the risk of ricochets, backsplash, etc combined with careful selections of the materials to increase safety.
Another key design focus for SKM was the prevention of toxic gases and particulates build-up (including lead and unburnt propellants) within the fully enclosed Indoor Ranges, which can cause long term health and safety problems for trainers and trainees alike.
